The staff was wonderful = helped with everything, made sure we had everything we needed and were very proactive. Every one of them was top-notch. If we had an issue, they handled it in a positive fashion and everything worked out quite well. It's also well located near restaurants, transportation etc.

What a gem of a hotel. Was a little worried about the area close to the train station but it was actually rather good. Plenty of neighborhood restaurants, cafes and a couple of wine bars. Close to plenty of public transport. This hotel was completely renovated about 4 years ago and they didn't skimp, everything finished to a high standard that has stood the test of time. Bed comfortable, shower great, ac to cool the room down at night. A great stay, would highly recommend for anyone going to Lyon.

We stayed in this beautiful hotel for three nights. Many of the original features still remain today. There are beautiful and unique pieces of furniture, paintings, books and photos etc displayed throughout the hotel. All areas of the hotel were exceptionally clean and well maintained. The owners and all staff were very friendly and enjoyed sharing points of interest in their city. We would highly recommend a stay at the Hotel de Verdun.

The room was well-appointed, spacious and quiet. Overall, this old but remodelled hotel has been given a tasteful yet quirky ambience. The bathroom worked well, and the mattresses were a good compromise between my desire for fairly hard and my wife's desire for fairly soft! We only tried the express breakfast, but it was more than sufficient for our needs, and the staff were especially helpful. Lastly, the hotel is located at a nexus of Metro and Tram services, so travel to other parts of Lyon (notably Vielle Lyon) is easy, rapid and cheap.

The size of the room and how helpful the staff at front desk were with restaurant reservations and handling my luggage. There’s a major construction across the road but my French doors were so sound proof you’d hardly notice.

A beautifully decorated hotel in a charismatic old building. Rooms are large, complete and comfortable. A good selection of coffee/tea in the rooms, great beds and perfect showers. The staff is friendly and helpful. Not just out of duty but genuinely willing to take another step to help. Great!

Staff are superb. Proud of their hotel and so they should be. Absolutely commitment to customer service and ensuring you are well looked after. Makes the UK look very poor by comparison. Breakfast fantastic; great range to cater for all tastes. Great location. This is not a 5* deluxe hotel, but it serves its purpose for two nights - and many swankier hotels could learn a lot from the people who run it. Thank you.

Everything. The room was perfect. Well run by Isobel and Giles. What was really good to see was the personal touch at every stage of interaction with the guests. The collection of books, art and posters are an absolute pleasure to enjoy. The breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of choices. And very healthy too.
